Children registering for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion must be at least in the second grade and have completed one full year of formal faith formation classes prior to enrolling in sacrament preparation. We ask for a copy of the candidate’s baptismal certificate at the time of registration. Special preparation sessions for these two sacraments are held throughout the year before the reception of the sacraments. Regular attendance at these classes is an expectation and should NOT be missed except for grave reasons.
The Sacrament of First Reconciliation
Reconciliation will be celebrated at a time designated by our pastor, preferably at the completion of preparation sessions in late Fall. Parents will be notified by letter from the Faith Formation Office of the dates and times for Reconciliation celebrations.
The Sacrament of First Holy Communion
First Holy Communion will be celebrated on a Saturday in late Spring at a special family celebration. First Communion rehearsals are scheduled during the week prior to the Saturday celebration. Parents will be notified by letter from the Faith Formation Office of the dates and times for the First Communion celebration and rehearsals.
The Sacrament of Confirmation
Youth in 10th grade or older and who are active in the LifeTeen program for at least two consecutive years will be eligible for the reception of the Sacrament. Candidates for Confirmation will have participated in a special program of preparation, attended the required retreat and have performed service projects prior to the reception of the sacrament. Please check the Faith Formation calendar for the date for Confirmation which will be celebrated by the Archbishop of Atlanta or Auxiliary Bishops of Atlanta.
